2011 Mini Hood won't open

Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum. I mainly joined to learn more about maintenance on my daughters 2011 Mini.
I apologize if this question is somewhere else in the forum. I did a search and found a couple somewhat similar questions but no solutions.
Currently I'm having trouble opening the hood. Here's what I've tried so far.

1) Interior latch, obviously. Lol
2) Having another person pull latch while I push on the hood
3) Started taking drivers side tire and wheel well out but I stopped because it didn't look like I could see anything.
4) Brought to my mechanic for inspection and asked them to try. They weren't familiar with Minis so they weren't willing to experiment.

Has anyone had the same issue and was able to get to latches? I'm hoping to do this myself.

Thanks

Do you pull the lever inside the car twice? Don't know why but my R56 never completely opened on one pull. When you do pull on the lever does the bonnet/hood come up at all even a little bit?
A mechanic shut the bonnet on my 08 r55 with the bonnet release cables disconnected. He did eventually release the catches from underneath. Let's just say it was the last job he did on any of my cars. Have you checked the cable is properly fitted in the lever, it is a poor design.

I've only ever had to pull it once. I have pulled it multiple times in frustration, LOL. No it definitely doesn't budge a bit when I pull it. Even with me pushing on the hood while someone else pulls the lever.

Thanks

Hi, yes the cable seems fine on the lever inside the car. I've found a video on youtube of a Meineke mechanic saying to use a long tool to reach up from underneath to release the latches.
the solution is not easy, if the connection under the hood has parted (small headed cable end in a plastic housing). need to put it up on axle stands, get under the front with a long screw driver or thin tool, look up with a torch until you can see the latch and pry the latch from beneath, this sounds mad, but is doable. I have no links but have seen photos. I have done this myself and trial and error as to which way to push works on an R57 and imagine it is the same on yours. To prevent reoccurrence, I held the plastic housing of the connector on the right of the slam pannel closed with strong tape.
Right, thanks. That's what I'm most likely going to attempt this weekend. Will it be stable enough with stands on each side at jack points or do I need to do all 4?

I would always just put axle stands at the front, the rear wheels/tyres are as stable as you can get. Take your time getting the front as high as you can anytime spent on an extra few inches will pay it self back ten times. Patience is definitely a virtue for this type of job. Best of luck.
