So I took my Mini into the dealership to get a quote for break replacement. By the time I was done the bill was $8800. The main culprit was the turbo, pictured below. apparently the turbo is leaking oil. I believe it's a bad gasket. There has never been a loss of oil pressure, oil stains after parking, or anything that would signal an issue.
I guess my question is: I don't want to go through the dealership and pay 4K to replace the turbo when the car itself is not worth the $8800 that the dealership says I need in repairs. What are my options as far as replace/repair of the turbo without destroying my bank account.
If anyone's wondering the invoice follows:
front breaks complete: $740
Rear breaks complete: $666
Turbo Charger leaking: $4027
front timing cover leaking: $861
crank pulley: $897
lower motor mount soaked in oil: $246
New tires and alignment: $1000
