Have done regular searches for the answer to this but have failed!! I have standard 16" 5 spokes (R83) and am wanting confirmation of the offset. I have seen that they could possibly be 48mm but I am not convinced. I am considering new 17's which have a 45mm offset and want to ensure these would be suitable. Mega thanks for knowledgeable replies. :D :D :D

According to the FAQ list (one of the sticky treads in this wheels and tire section), your R83 rims should be Offset 50. When you replace it with offset 45, 17 rims there should be no problem at all. Your wheels will coming out the wheel fenders for 5mm. I'm using myself offset 42 wit 16' rims. MCS looks more planted on the road. No rubbing of any kind.

However I recommend to keep the 16' size as it handles much better than 17'.
Also go for really light weight rims (S-spokes are extreme heavy).
Just my opinion.
