My Cooper has developed a fault in the wipers. They run for 13 sweeps and then stop wherever it suits them on the windscreen. Bavarian motors have given me a ONE while they get if fixed. They haven't done it before and there's lots to take apart and refit.

I'm not whingeing, just letting you all know. It really is a great car.

Slang is great, eh? A friend was visiting from Australia and was fond of saying "Well, I'll be blowed." I had to break him of that habit as it has certain meanings among some members of the society.

As to the lighter socket, the lighter draws a lot of current and is connected directly to the battery, bypasses the ignition switch in most cases. Did you check the fuse block?

I wonder if MINI stands for Many Irritating Niggles Included. :p

Bit of an over-reaction don't you think Varse?

I Know Mr. Bill can drag us down every now and again, but then so can the cr**py weather in the UK and we never complain about that...ah, ok..maybe we do...

But it's Christmas for gawd's sake..!!..and Mr. Bill was trying to be constructive..Lighten up!!..;);)

Not really no.

Yes it is Xmas, so why does he keep having to try to bring us down. We may have some 'niggles' but it doesn't really bother me, and I can live happily with them because the car is so great, until someone who doesn't even have a MINI gloats about them.

It's like going up to some spotty teenager who is very happy and doesn't let it bother him cos he realises there are more important things to worry about and going, 'Ha-ha, you spotty git'. He then feels sh***y, why would you do that.

Sorry but he really winds me up. Scum of the earth. Harsh, but fair...

Varse, please realize the MINI has no cult following here. Most people never heard of one. You Brits are willing to overlook the minor faults because "it is a great car." Problem here is people don't know how "great" it is and will look at the overall picture. A product with a lot of minor faults will be rejected in favor of one that is perceived to be perfect. Brits like to tinker with a car to keep it running. Americans are, for the most part, a lazy lot. They just want to get in a car and drive, not spend hours fixing it.

If the MINI is to succeed here, it has to be fault free. If it pulls left, has electrical problems, the seats break, etc., it will go the route of the other English cars that have not been available here for years. If you can find a copy of Consumer Reports, take a look at one of their car tests. You think I'm picky??? They examine things such as wheel alignment, accuracy of the gauges, distortion in the windshield glass, paint flaws, squeaks and rattles, fit and finish, etc. The "sample defects" downgrade the car accordingly. Most cars have three or four. Can you imagine how the MINI would score with 20 or 30 defects? They test cars by going in and buying one from the dealer, so it is the same as the consumer would get, not one specially prepared for a magazine test.

I want a MINI. I want it to succeed. But they better get their act together if it is going to be a success here.

Ahhhh,

Mr Bill,

Why do you keep repeating the same thing, over and over again:rolleyes:

Ain't you got anything new to say:confused:

What gets me is you keep going on about in order for the car to succeed it has to blah...blah...blah. You are talking rubbish!!

Even with the relatively MINOR niggles the car has it is still 10 times better built, better engineered and is made of better quality that your average Cadillac/Ford/Chevi..etc!!

For me it has NOTHING to do with the cult status of the old mini, as to the reason why I am buying the car. To me they are two totally different cars. It is like comparing the old beetle and the new beetle...nothing similar there apart the name.

The reasons I am buying one is because it is a FANTASTICALLY well-engineered car; it is an absolutely hoot to drive; built not only with QUALITY parts; but also on the whole EXTREMELY well built.

So stop having a dig, and think of something new to talk about because nothing in this world is perfect. You have tried my patience time and time again because you keep making presumptions. You have not even seen a Mini, yet you are shooting it down in flames. I have done a poll to see whether people are happy with their car, and so far 87% are happy with their car. And I think all things considered that is brilliant.

So please enough of the snide comments and talk about something else..anything!!
