A Sunroof Question

A question for those of you that have a sunroof in your MINI:

Is the interior part of the sunroof glass smooth to the touch? I'm trying to understand how the tinting of the glass has been done. I would expect the tint to be internal to the glass, but I guess it is possible for it to have been applied in some sort of matte finish on the surface of the glass.

The reason I am asking is that from pictures I have seen, while sunroof glass has a dark tint as standard, the perforated rolling sunshades seem to let in a lot of light (perhaps not a bad thing in the UK, but here in sunny Texas not desirable at all).

If I get a MINI with a sunroof, I might consider having a separate film tint fitted to it on the underside -- for the tint to be applied it needs a smooth glass surface.

Thanks!

The glass feels just like a normal glass surface, very smooth. Shouldn't be a problem applying a darker tint.

Where I work I can go up a few flights of stairs and view my MINI, and with the black roof and sunroof it looks great. Even in our awful british winter it's great having such an airy and light interior. I don't regret for one minute going for a sunroof instead of a/c :)

I have the same concern, here in North Carolina. Glad to hear that the surface is smooth, so there shouldn't be any problems applying Limo tint to it. The state limits how dark your windows can be, but a dark sunroof shouldn't be a problem. I might be able to get away with not paying the $10 fee, too.
