07 MSC 10,000 miles covered. I have just visited my dealer with a wood pecker noise from the front left hand side. This noise only happens when the car hits bumps in the road and is infrequent. However, it can be reproduced on the speed bumps near my house. The dealer proved it was the ABS by disconnecting the ABS sensors on all four wheels. Unfortunately after having the vehicle for 3 days, they said it was not a fault but a characteristic of the Car. Dealer also said that could reproduce the fault on two other MCS of the same age which were in for service. Dealer has reported this to BMW.

Has anyone else had this problem?

A friend of mine had a similar problem on his Mazda..........to cure the problem the dealer replaced the two front drive shafts. Evidently only one of the drive shafts was faulty, but they replaced the two as a precaution.

This might have a relevance to your problem.
