Hi all :)
I am considering buying an MCS convertible tomorrow (hence the urgency of this post!!!). Having owned a previous R53 Mini Cooper S I am quite into my modding ;) and am just wondering if the convertible poses any limitations on tuning potential?

I would be looking to do something like the following :

  • 17% S/C Pulley
  • Janspeed Manifold
  • Milltek Exhaust
  • Lowered (Eibachs)
  • Injectors
  • CAI (Alta / GTT)
  • Crank Pulley
and probably more, but these things to start with...

Just wondering if anyone can tell me ASAP if these things are possible from a convertible?

Thanks for any help at all :)
regards
Nick

Can't see it being a problem at all... I have a brand new Crank Pulley if you are interested...

What %

LOL I havent even bought the car yet and already Im getting into modding ;)
Same as with my last one though! I bought an Alta CAI about 3 weeks before I bought the car just because it was such a bargain lol!!

I've done all of the above in one form or another, bar the lowering springs and
I'm still loving the car after 3 years ;)

I'd have to say one of the best mods for the cab is the GTT strut braces.
The 3 braces totally transformed the handling, and are a must IMHO :D

Yes they are basically. ThinkMini have done a lot of tuning on a cooper S belonging to a chap local to them. His car is one of the quickest cabs I have ever seen. Its very very tasty.

I think hes basically running a gTT240 kit or maybe more, along with a few tweeks such as big injectors and VFPR to handle the fueling. Worth talking to Lucky Dave or to the owner KMS by PM to see what they can offer and for what cost.

Basically apart froma few basic items needing alternative versions, anything that can be done on a standard S can be done on a cab....exhaust wise though i think that your only choice is the MIlltek as not sure anyone lse does cab versions? (maybe Borla do?)

Just to give you an idea...the cab I know had these items from your list....

17% S/C Pulley - Yes
Janspeed Manifold - Yes but its a GTT (pretty much the same thing)
Milltek Exhaust - Yes
Lowered (Eibachs) - Yes
Injectors - Yes 450cc (but had a GTT VFPR to control them, the other alternative is a map by 1320)
CAI (Alta / GTT) - Yes he has GTT
Crank Pulley - Not too sure, I believe he may do as he runs GTT stuff.
