I have a 2011 clubman s.. suddenly the automatic shifter won’t go into park!! I changed the brake switch but it didn’t help.. any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

I had similar experience that may be helpful. I had a different vehicle. My mother had been driving and said the vehicle turned off and she had trouble putting it in park so she could restart it. Somehow she forced the stick to the park position while it was sitting in the driving lane of a parking lot. I needed to move the vehicle but couldn't since it was in park so I have to use the little hidden override button to allow me to shift it to neutral so I could push it to a parking spot. Once there we determined the shift cable came loose and just had to be reconnected.
