Battery registration tool?

Hello All

I've taken the plunge into Mini ownership with an 2007 R55 Cooper S
really enjoy the car but its got a few niggles which I'm hoping for some help with

so its had a replacement AGM battery fairly recently but it occasionally flags up the battery icon on the info window, and tends to lose the clock time
after a longer run it seems happier but I'm reasonably confident that the previous owner changed the battery and did not register it

so what I'm looking for is a scan tool that can do this
from my research so far its looking like the foxwell NT510-530 will do the trick providing its loaded with the BMW option - yet to be confirmed

Bavarian Technic cannot do this
Carly can do this but you have to pay a subscription + the cost of the OBD dongle + the cost of the extra packages ( like battery registration ) so this leaves a bad taste in the mouth as there are also some reports that it cannot then do what it says
Bimmer link / Bimmer code - may be able to do this but its not clear from their website

so can anyone recommend an option that doesn't include taking the car to the dealer and giving them £200 fro 5 minutes work

Bimmerlink/code did the job for me.
If you are losing your clock, I fear coding may not fix it. I'd be looking for a bad contact at the battery or main cables.
cheers for the reply
what model is your Mini?
as it seemed to me that Bimmer link supported 2008 onward
Whereas mine is 2007
autocom cdp plus link below
will do nearly everything easy to use
thanks for that, have to say I 'm a bit suspicious of anything from Aliexpress as there's usually no gaurentee the kit works or what your ordered actually turns up
I've had some bad expierences in the past with this route so would prefer something a little less 'dark web'

has anyone tried the Foxwell tool?
surely there must someone who doesn't like giving the dealer a ton of cash?

Mine is a 2013 MCS, so your mileage may vary!

bought one 7 years a go worked every since but yes prob better getting something that is a lot more money and dont do everything, foxwell do a tool that is on same level as autocom, ironically foxwell hardware and chips all made in china
i work in a garage and have access to a 4k snap on diagnostics and sometimes have to use a cheap autocom because it dont do something i need it to
fair point
so does the autocom cover all vehicles or do you have to buy a BMW variant?
covers all,, it will code injectors and reset adaptations will set services stuff all brakes abs,, i was a doubter at first when this guy who does car electronics etc told me i should get one back then they were £100 per £100 i ever spent and everyone i have told about all have said its really good and did not expect it to cover as much as it does,, can also program body control modules on most things,, its got live data that i use all the time as its just bang on, need to get the one lik in the link with double board for full function,, think delphi cost around 8k
OK you've convinced me, I've ordered one for the princely sum of £43

how far wrong can you go....

I'll report back
you cant really for the money a good tool to have not found anything it dont scan or work with yet,
Hello Mike

well the autocom has turned up but it needs an activation code? you contact an email address that comes on the disk but that was a few days ago and no reply yet ?
how long did you have to wait for for your code ?

OK mod file turned up this morning, installed it and the autocom now seems to open as it should
excellent...... ( rubs hands)

I'll give it go plugging into the Mini tonight, looks promising as the battery management option is present for Mini on the tool
will report back

it really is for the money, the best bit of kit for money nothing else compare's to it,, when you think it reads nearly all cars on the road ,, mine is a older version i bought it back 2013 for £120 they have come down in price since as pound is weak, i also have a wurth snooper another really good diagnostics tool that as loads of autodata on it as well as same as autocom but autocm the live data is so much better to work with,
so far i got vag,com master one will do everything vag group,
autocom
wurth snooper
lexia and Peugeot planet
bmw insta d and inpa
renualt clip
plus some flash and write gear for cloning ecu's and map stuff etc,
also got access to garage snap on gear as well that handy when some thing comes a long that wont play well with it,
the next level of cars and hybrid stuff will be the end for me I think i'm getting that point of life where its harder to keep learnt stuff in as such, and these new cars are so complicated and the diagnostics tools will be thousands,, then i would think a law will appear after a few people get killed from the 500v plus 20kw electric shocks that could get from putting fingers in wrong place,,

the autocom seems to have done the trick, I have successfully registered a new battery ( the 1st time it had been done according to the device)
that said the [email protected] alternator packed up a week later so thats now been changed but shes back on the road
just need to plan in a timing chain change next
Mike, does the CAS battery register need reset after any battery change or when the car has had a dead battery? My 08 One had a tired battery (12.10-12.20v) so I persuaded the trader to fit a new Yuasa AGM. will live data show any issue?

could you provide a fresh Autocom link as the one above has expired and there are many offers coming up on AliExpress!!

support greatly appreciated.
some one else recently bought a autocom from aliexpress and looks like what some are selling are not full function so i'l not going to put my head on chopping block and give a ink in case it dont ,, rule of thumb is looking for the ones with the better nec relays in it and hope all goes well, sorry for not being able to point to one as it looks like there are lesser models from what i bought back in 2013 ,
this all said if i were to have a punt for myself this is what i would buy and most likely be ok
