We would like to invite you all to explore the wonderful part of England that is the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley (ok, that bit is in Wales!). It will be at the end April/early May just as the Bluebells are in full blossom and the Forest is at its most beautiful
We propose a treasure hunt in and around the Forest. It will be completed by car but will require getting out of the car to solve several clues.
Each clue, some of which might be a bit cryptic to sort the men form the boys, will have a 6 figure grid reference. This will refer to a location on the Ordnance Survey LandRanger map number 162 - it's the Gloucester and Forest of Dean one
The day will start at 1000 at Chepstow Castle. Your task will be to navigate to the 10 clues and answer the questions.
There will be a buffet at a nice pub at 1600.
And prize giving.
Those of that you that want to stay, and after a days introduction to the sights and smells of the Forest you will want to stay, can stay at one of the pubs or B&B’s local to the end point and have a few beers too.
Try the Fountain Inn (01594 564 438), The Woodman Inn (01594 563273) or Deanfield B&B (01594 562256)
The cost will be £8 per person including buffet, entrance ticket to a local attraction and contribution to the prize.
You will also need to bring Ordnance Survey LandRanger Map 162. £5.99 from your local map shop or
http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk
Disregard the poll, it will be on
Saturday 30th April, 10 am, Chepstow Castle
It is the same weekend as the round Britain run
Its bank Holiday weekend so book any accomodation early.
I will be limiting the first event to 20 cars so as not to overload the Forest country roads.
MINI’s were made for these roads and lanes.
On the list
1. PAA 100 (sort of racing round making sure everyone is having fun) - paid
2. Stripey + 2
3. Wigley + 1 - paid
4. TonyM and Marilyn - paid
5. Chill +2 - paid
6. Beastmaster and peanut - paid
7. Fru_T_Bun - in the I really want to do this section for 2 - paid
8. Emma and Gareth +1 - paid
