I have an 05 plate Mini Copper S. Standard! I have just been quoted £378 for a geometry check (one of the back wheels is rubbing) and over £600 for replacement brake pads and discs.

Does anyone know of a garage in North London, that will do these repairs for less money?

Or do you know of someone that is a Mini Specialist in North London!

Thanks

ouch, now I'm sure some on this site will say thats just BMW prices and theres nothing wrong but thats BS.

Find a good independent or even think about a trip out of london for a few days and get the work done at a rural dealers, Exeter MINI wanted £400 for brakes and discs so you could have your self a nice tip away for the same as the london quote

Labour costs in London will always be high, especially main dealers, ridiculously so :hmph: My dealer charges about £120 an hour and thats 20 odd miles out of London :hmph: Crazyness! I'd try and find somewhere out of London :)

www.AlignMyCar.co.uk lists all the companies that use the hunter kit minis need a 4 wheel alignment and hunter are the company that supply bmw with their machines

most good indie places charge 60-100 and make sure its weighted properly as minis need set with weights (68kg on both front sears, 14kg in the boot and a full tank of petrol)

ive not used bmw for years i found a good local garage a long time ago and pay half what bmw charge

having spoken at length with pro align who make the hunter machines some bmw garages dont even have the proper kit installed and dont set the mini up properly they usually sand bag the strut towers (big no no)

also a lot of the time the mini needs new front lower wishbone bushes and not a geometry check as having it done with worn bushes is the biggest waste of money ever

Wow.. £600 for brakes and pads!! I recently had mine replaced with genuine BMW discs and pads.. and it cost me £150 altogether. £110 for the parts and £40 for labour. Just need to get lucky I guess!

I had mine done for read brake pads/discs at the Mini garage in Kentish Town and it came to about £250.

They kindly pointed out coming close to £2000 of work eventually needing to be done and I also wondered if anyone knew of any decent garages/Mini specialist garages that don't charge the usual premium.

I'm in East London.
