Hi
Really after some pointers as I have run out of ideas.
58 Cooper D
When I got the car I only drove round the block but the turbo was noisy had a new turbo fitted but I got ill and didn't look at the car for 2 years, when I came back to it. No boost below 2K, fitted new boost control valve it cured intermittent boost problem but no boost below 2K, 3 or 4 people say it can only be the turbo, today fitted another turbo, which I sent away and had it tested first off sounded good but no boost under 2K then 1/2 mile down the road boost deviation code, got home to find the nozzles seized. I am going to send the original turbo off to be rebuilt.
Can there be something else wrong with? The latest guess is a previous owner had it mapped but it has lost it.
As I say any ideas are welcome right now.
Thanks Stu

how you doing stu been a bit busy so missed your message, i think your car needs to start with basics, ie oil pressure test for start, i had one that i bought after it done its turbo and it went in to diesel runaway ie all its engine oil got just as fuel and it seemed after that all was well but kept not boosting right and it really got me spinning trying to find the issue, the issue was main end bearing worn out from the over run and lack of oil pressure to float the turbo bearing and this caused drag on it so would not make the boost until engine rev's higher ie more revs slightly more oil pressure then would boost,, mine in the end was killing turbo's 1500 miles.. so hot engine oil pressure test think you need first off. filing that and you want someone to look at it i do a few timing chain jobs for a tuning company he's proper good fair on price and acn remap and dpf deletes etc, he can also read your ecu and sensors on a deeper level than i can or autocom can,, but like said need to know you have the basics

Thanks for your reply Mike.
The guy who fitted this turbo is going to fit the one he took off back as the car was driveable with it, just no boost til 2K. The old turbo has very little end float feels smooth. I have asked elsewhere for advice and both places have said MAP or EGR. I have a new EGR and have ordered a new decent MAP. He is going to try these as well. If that doesn't cure the problem I will either leave it as it is or break it, I can't justify spending any more on it.
Cheers Stu

i know what i would do to it and it changes them to something really good to drive boost from 1000 revs right to red line can drive around in 6th all the time done ot to both mine, egr delete dpf delete and 50/50 mpa so as to kick the lower revs up on power, i know a good mapper that does the job right ie cant tell, done both my clubmans and transforms them totally, on par with cooper s bit still get well over 70 mpg at 50 mph,
The turbo on it is scrap so to make it driveable it has to be changed, it feels good for 10K so not convinced it's a oil pressure problem, I have a new EGR valve and have ordered a new MAP so they may as well be done . With 3 turbos on it, the fault has been the same, I can't believe all 3 have had the same fault, just this one only lasted a mile before the vnt seized, have disconnected the actuator and can only just move the arm up and down with a screwdriver, so the vacuum has little chance. As you know I've been unwell and a change in meds has put me back about 2 years so have to pay for most the work on it right now. I may feel differently when it is driveable again but have been told it needs new injector seals as well I have new seals but labour ain't cheap. Will see how things are when it's able to be driven again but mapping may be the solution.

if you can get car down to me or i know of a guy who does recovery work and he's fairly cheap he can pick it up bring it to me if that makes life easier i'll sort it for you if you want, not this week as got to much on the go. ie fit turbo and egr and go through it see what i find, i also have access to maps at trade money it helps, the offer is there when your ready bud, i know what its like to suffer ill health finally found what was wrong after 4 years of xrays and being told its all fine and in my head,, 5 times they missed a collapsed lower lung that now has gone hard and hurts a lot so next thing is its going to be cut out really not looking forward to that one,, one doctor even thought the pain was in my head and need to go see a head shrink hmmm guess the cuts to NHS are working really well them bloody tory's, they use outside contractors to check xrays that was the hospitals defence,
Thanks for your offer, really appreciate it.
Will get a good price from the guy that did the turbo to swap it back, he is really fair and mobile so will get him to do the other bits too.
Drs sometimes get it wrong, my last check up apparently I should have been dead so meds changed now feel like I did after 2nd heart attack. Never forget my poor old mum doc said it was all in her head, she was right it was a brain tumour but whatever they say it's their best guess. Not knocking the NHS at all if it wasn't for them I'd be dead .
Will get these bits done probably next week and be in touch after.
Thanks again Stu
