Boot / TrunkOrganizer Problem

After I purchased the boot organizer for my car I noticed it blocks the car's ventilation system (two vents) located on the aft bulkhead of the boot/ trunk (depending on which side of the pond you reside). I modified mine so the ventilation system could work properly. Notified my local part6s department and they indicated they'd pass it on to BMW NA.

What vents? Any chance of a photo?

Cheers,

Dom
What trunk organiser, any chance of a photo?!

You talking about the single tray that sits in the boot?
Re: Boot Organizer

Dom & Johnboy, Sorry but I don't have a digital camera. The vents are located the trunk/ boot on the same panel the latch assembly is. If you open the trunk/ boot look down at the latch, place your hands where the latch the run them forward until they contact the carpet... once you've touched the carpet then run both hands outboard (oppisite of eachother) along the plastic panel at the bak of the car you'll locate the vents. I don't know about the UK, but here in the US they sell a foldable vynil tray with adjuatable compartments via Velcro.

Every car has "vents" in the boot/passenger areas of the car. The vents are used to expel stale air.

When you use the fan, where do you think the air goes?! The excess/stale/old air has to vent somewhere. The forward motion of the car will also help to draw stale air out. The vents also (supposedly) help when you slam you car door/bootlid as they reduce excess air pressure.

If you block/obstruct the vents you might get excess condensation and smells in the car.

The vents also help if any occupant has ingested excess quantities of beans/cabbage/fibre.

:D

Boot sill finisher - airvents

Hi,
I agree with dietcokeplease.
The vents are used to relieve pressure on shutting the boot/trunk.
They are not actually "active" in the sense that they are connected to anywhere via ducts or piping so no damage can be caused by blocking them.
Its just to stop you "popping" peoples ears when you slam the boot. If you dont usually carry passengers then it doesn't really matter if you block them.
