Hi,

I'm looking for people who actually have, or have experienced a Brembo Brake conversion on their MINI.

What i'd like to know is the details of the conversion (i.e. disk size, pots and whether bell mounted) and what you thought of them. How much better than standard, money well spent, any wear issues etc.

Thanks

Alex

I've had mine for 3 months, 320mm, 4 pot GT kit.
The braking is fantastic, no overbearing front distribution and no wear or any other problems.
I was lucky enough to have 17" aftermarket race wheels on (Azev) but still needed some 10mm H+R spacers and then they just fit. My mechanic who fitted mine is trying to fit some to a true track car at the moment but cant get the Race 16" on. So unless you have wheels with lots of spoke clearance, think again. Standard Mini 17s dont take them at all. I think the multi-piece do though with spacers.
Lightyears better than standard brakes. I replaced oil, pads and lines before and that was good, but these are great. No fade but a bit of a squeel when they're cool which can be a bit annoying around town but is the race sound!!
As for price.........well......you're always going to pay top dollar for Brembo. Is better, IMHO, than other similar kits out there but have heard the AP 305mm kit is very good for quite a bit less.
Heres some crummy pics of the clearance with spacers!!

Nick,

Where did you get them from and just for interests sake... what did they cost you including fit?

Tod
www.bsm.com.au (Barrie Smith Motorsport) who is distributor. Had them fitted by a friend who is a brake specialist, so got the fitted cheap plus he did'nt put any markup on them.
I got them installed for about $3500-3600. Took about 3 months to arrive from Brembo!!!

I've got a 330mm Brembo conversion. They do fit under a standard 17" S lite, but they needed a 10mm spacer.

Wear rate on the pads is poor, but thats the pads fault not the conversion - I'm running a track day set up, and the pads used are not designed for long term wear - different pads would sort this out for road use.

The disks needed a bell mounting. Cost was £1350 in the UK.

Heres a pic....

They are'nt the Gran Turismo kit though are they? From what I believe, there is a 320 & 310 GT Kit, everything else is a mixed lot, like the 328 AP kit.
BTW, have you felt the need to upgrade rears??

The calipers are brembo, don't recal the name of the disk suppliers, not sure what the name of the manuacturer orf the pads are. Its a kit put together by my local tuner, West Tuning in Andover. He's an ex touring car driver, and this was what he reommended for fast hard track use. He does another brembo kit for road use.

Not felt the need to upgrade the rears, but would like too. Will fit standard sized but groved disks to rears soon.,

Alex,

How did you get on with your brake upgrade investigations? Did you go for the big Brembos?

Cheers
