Buying MINI cooper but need some help

Hello everyone,

Over the past week I have been looking for a first gen MINI cooper with a budget of just under £4,000. To cut a long story short it’s going to be an early xmas gift for the girlfriend (she absolutely loves MINI coopers and It would be a great additional car for me to drive as well! so it's win-win).

Anyway today I found a 54 plate MINI cooper, 2 previous owners, looks great, low mileage, etc..
Here’s the ad: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201910143294031

I have run the registration plate through a quick car check at www.rapidcarcheck.co.uk and it's showing weird mileage, apparently the mileage history shows as:
21st Feb 2009 - 26,303 miles
16th Mar 2010 - 11,550 miles
12th Mar 2011 - 30,212 miles

Is there any logical explanation for this? I really like the colour and think it would make a great early xmas present for the GF but after seeing this I don’t know whether to move on and find another or ask for more information? What would you do?

Any advice is appreciated, thank you and I look forward to hearing from other MINI cooper owners.

Probably user error inputting data. Ask the garage to justify their checks.

Try to use the DVLA should show mileage when MOT was checked.

I checked it and it's showing the same thing, 26k, 11k, 30k - I am going to contact the seller to see what they say, like scudder said it may be an input error?

maybe had new speedo or cas unit or its been clocked at worst,, i just spent week looking for a car out or 10 i hpi checked 6 failed on mileages or finance owed one even had it down as 1.4tdi vw tiguan 2010 reg they never made a 1,4tdi in that model year etc, the best party the owners had mot'd it and insured it on some level,, can just imagine if ever had a insurance claim,, as its the owners job to tell them the correct details that have been checked etc,,
i hpi everything and always the top check on a registered hpi site below link good site
also be careful giving anyone your bank details for payment a lot of people are getting scammed and lose thousands due to bank tell them well you gave your info so you gave the money away,,
I wouldn't share my bank details with my mother never mind a seller, any private sale is cash afaic and only after a thorough check of the motor and its documentation.

i tried to buy a ford focus estate the other day local car to me contacting him on our house phone was all set to go buy it untill he said bank draft only dont want cash etc and would not budge, he said would give bank details for me to pay in when i got there etc, i explained to him got cash and have a id etc prove i'm not a scammer etc he would not have it,, 3 weeks later that car is still for sale,, i know of people that have given their bank details via a payment to find someone has stolen their money and banks default is tell you well its all your own fault as gave you info to the thief so bank not liable,, just think this idiot government is planning to have a cashless society once that happens it only takes someone to hack your internet connection and they have access to all you own ,, and banks will let it happen banks will blame the victim for allowing it in some way ,,, we just had a hacker try and hack everything they did manage to port our mobile number to another company and by doing this they could change pass words on google and ebay and paypal,, we realised this had happened just as it did happen within minutes and managed to prevent it put stops on all accounts, took 3 weeks and a load of hassle to get our number back from 3 network,,, so now we have a burner phone pay as you go non registered we only ever use it to verify accounts with and no way anyone can port it or hack or connect it to any of our accounts ,, even our microsoft accounts hacked by some one in india clones our laptops,, once again changed it and now use PIA to hide ip address etc,,

ho and before i un hooked the hackers pc from my account i also went in to his C drive by remote and left him a load of missing windows files and moved then around etc so he will need to reformat it and reload windows and should lose it all,, in ideal world i would love to meet him and show just how angry someone can get at being hacked etc,
added note if anyone notices their internet when starts up is slow or shows the first page up twice or a curser moves etc chance are its been cloned via miscrosoft account
Yeah I'm well up to speed with net scammers I've been dealing with them since 2004, my iphone warned me there was someone in India trying to log into my apple account and was it me lol, I obviously blocked it. I agree on the cashless reset, apparently this has been planned for a long time and discussed at the last world economic forum by parasite bankers there.

its funny they brain wash people in to thinking its needed to protect more from theft and scams where the reality it makes it a lot easier for people to rob us,, there is a lot of twisted crap going on at mo, this tory government have in past 10 years brain washed the masses in thinking that human rights laws have made criminals untouchable so now they will remove our human rights and do what ever they want , at the expense of honest people , bit like all the promises made about brexit and a good deal and levels up society etc ,, going to be a lot of disappointed fools when all the truth comes out and and its to late.. history repeats and nothing gets learnt it would seem, think there is bigger to come with china and russia my self the story's are getting more and more life brain wash people and have a fresh enemy as now oil is not the bug thing its going to be lithium and tech etc,,, something bigger at play me thinks
