Cabrio cancelled- Can't make a choice: losing my mind.

I have canceled my order for my Cabrio MINI S and I am bummed out.
I just sold my MINI S because I received a great price and was ready to purchase the Cabrio..
I was thrilled about the look and the drive. I had put the order in the other day and just told them CANCELED!!!!
This is my second thread regarding color choices and interior options.
In my opinion only they are lacking.
Red-Yellow-Silver-Dark Silver-Hyper Blue-Purple-British racing green-Hot Orange.
And don't let me get started on what MINI will and won't do with interior options.

Simple, give me PEPPER WHITE with a Blue or Black roof in a S cabrio. Great :D
I even like Gold in the S Cabrio, no only for the cooper .WHY?
So I am not going to settle.
I have spent weeks changing my mind and realized I am not thrilled with any of there color choices. And for me it is a matter of choice.
Example only: I don't want to sit in a Hot Orange Cabrio and then next year ask myself what the H:bad:LL were you thinking.

Calm down if you purchased that color, you made the right choice for yourself, it was just for an example only :)

I am willing to give my opinion on all the above listed color choices individually but only will do if asked.
For me it looks like it will be 2006 if things don't change.

Does anyone feel that they settled on color/interior options?
or thought they were making an incorrect choice when ordering?

I totally agree that PW should be an option on convertibles!
No offense

But if you canceled an order for your Mini Convertible because you couldn't get a white one, you got some serious issues. You got what? 12 other colors to pick from? Seriously white gets to dirty anyways.

Only my opinion but I think your daft.

Surely you knew what the colour ranges were before you sold the Cooper S.

There must be at least one colour you like.
Only my opinion but I think your daft.
Surely you knew what the colour ranges were before you sold the Cooper S.
First someone gave me $24,300 for my 2002 S. Wouldn't you sell it. I'd be daft if I didn't.

And it is still about choices.
Give me your Cabrio color and interior you bought then I will give my honest opinion why it was not my choice.

Again there are colors that I could have settled on but some of the interior choices weren't acceptable with the colors I liked.
If it was a tin top, no problem making a decision.

I live in a area that my top would be down 90%, so interior options have some importance to me.
No PW

I think that the MCSC has enough personality that it can still be a hot ride colorless - I chose dark silver with black stripes and top with black/grey seats and anthracite dash with chrome. I agree its silly that pepper white is unavailable (PW with blue stripes and blue top would look AWESOME, like out of a 70's detective show!) but man oh man, there are more color choices and options on the MINI than any car short of that Aston Martin that you can order in ANY color. I understand some colors induce the "ew gross chill" in some people (yellow in my wife, green in me, that MINI I saw in indy blue with green viper stripes and union jacks on the mirror caps in everyone), but you hate every color? Can you tell us why?

Pete
What about Cool Blue?
Thats such a great colour :)
You will be missing out on such a great car just because you cannot decide what colour to get!!!
Silver

I picked pure silver with black bonnet stripes and a black roof with black/grey interrior, It looks sweet.

Ummm..all due respect but why should anybody here care what your opinion is of choices we have made?

You obviously don't want something that isn't exactly spec'd as your fantasy car would be. Ok...I'd prefer EB / White Top in a Cabrio but so what?

You just sold a 3 year old car for current MSRP, yet obviously you have no faith that an MCSC will hold its value 2 years down the road when they may be offering PW as a choice and you could switch out. You also obviously don't care to explore aftermarket upholstery...which is the route we're going.

It sounds to me like you think somehow your refusal to order is punishing MINI for not offering what you want. I seriously doubt it will matter and in the meantime you will be driving---what?

Dear Turb Cab,

I am happy for you that you were able to get such a great deal on selling your 2002. Having been the proud owner of a 2005 MSCS for just over 24 hours now, I can say that you are definitely missing out on a fun ride! Maybe MINI will offer you the colors you are looking for next year. In the meantime, I hope that you live close enough to where you work to walk or ride a bicycle! :p

I chose jet black/black/cordoba beige and I have to say I couldn't be more pleased with the color choice, but then, I picked it out myself so of course I am pleased with it.

While at the dealership yesterday, I saw several convertibles that had just come off the truck... chili red with the black top was stunning (and may be parked on my husband's side of our garage very soon!)... I also saw a dark silver with blue top that looked very nice. The hot orange was a little duller that I expected it to be, but it was a very cloudy day, same goes for the cool blue... the purple color with black top was gorgeous in the showroom, and wasn't nearly as wacky of a purple as I expected. All in all, I didn't see any that I thought were just downright ugly, so maybe you will see one on the road that catches your fancy and you might change your mind.

Good luck to you, and happy motoring (whenever that may be!)

Honestly, this has got to win the award for the most screwed- up thread I've seen on Mini2.

TurbCab, since you've joined Mini2, you've posted 120 times. Obviously, you were excited about the MCSC. Going as far as already discussing a group buy for the windblocker.

You just figured out now that you don't like any of the convertible colors. Did you just look at the colors today for the first time and realize you don't like them??

And then you *offer* to critique OUR color choices?? Honestly, how old are you? I'm sorry, I don't really get personal on Mini2, but like someone said above, you've got some issues.

If you had just joined and said "I'm having some color choice problems, I don't like any of them" fine, I can deal with that. But you have been here for a while and NOW you figure it out.

I think it's offensive that you are willing to put down others choices to support why your opinion is right. I've had my MCSC since Sep 30th, and all I can tell you is that you're seriously missing the bigger picture.

And last I checked, there are places in the country that paint cars.

I am waiting on my Cool Blue/Dark blue leather/Black top w/ Black bonnet stripes.

While I never felt it was an incorrect choice, I did go through a range of combos that I thought would be fantastic. However, buying five different cars to get all the combos I wanted just wasn't practical :)

Other choices I considered:
DS/Black top w, with black interior
Orange, blue top with sunrise interior
Black, black top w/ beige leather
Purple Haze, black top, ?? interior

I went w/ Cool Blue because I think it is a color I will not tire of over the years -- I really like the pearlescent effect.

While it is hard to imagine not finding a combination you would like given the mix of colors, roofs, options, etc. as you said it is a personal CHOICE. Good luck with whatever you decide.

If colour is so important to you, then why not get the colour you want in a different model?
Decide on your priorities...... then make the order?
Not being funny or anything but surely you knew what colours would be available - interior and exterior - before you ordered a MCSC or even sold your own car   i mean selling it because your getting a lot of money for it is one thing, but to then be left without a car

With a car costing quite so much money i'd have really thought hard about it before i ordered it :(

However everybody does have their own opinions and views on different colour combos and agreed i too think pepper white would look fab, hey you could always have had it re-sprayed to make it original! :D

Well at the end of the day its your decision and you've done it now, good luck with whatever you decide to do with future cars :)

thats true but a car is a big decision
if your going to spend that amount of money the right choices have to be made and thats down to the individual person, i guess it shouldnt matter what other people think!
I suspected my post would be controversial. And I am not here to pretend to tell anyone
that their choice of color/interior is wrong.
I love the Cabrio, ,the style and the drive. It is finest and enjoyable cars made today by any car manufacturer by far in its price range.
Petey I - I chose dark silver with black stripes and top with black/grey seats and anthracite dash with chrome. Some colors induce the "ew gross chill" in some people (yellow in my wife, green in me, that MINI.
I did like the Dark Silver with the anthracite dash with chrome. The interior choices were leatherette-to hot where I live, to much sun. Space cloth was alright but wanted a little more aggressive look. It would have been my choice if MINI offered it with leather trim as the did with Tarten red.

interceptor What about Cool Blue?
That is also a great choice and if change my mind before 2006 I might like it with those Blue leather seats. Though I would still ride with the top down 90% of the time.
It may fade and get hot. I know that is part of driving a Cabrio

I must have hit a nerve.........
As I said before, again there are colors that I could have settled on but some of the interior choices weren't acceptable with the colors I liked.
I did check with aftermarket upoholostry and MINI has put in a new Air bag design and none of the better companies have yet able to manufacture with a guarantee that it will work. I know of many companies for the old style in the tin top but yet to find one that will work with me on the cabrio new air bag design.
Me punishing MINI, ??? They offer options and it is my choice alone to purchase. This is not punishment it is disapointment. :(

Black with cordoba beige -stunning car! Black is terrific also the Astro black. If I lived in a cooler climate I would give it some serious thought.
I have a another car to drive. I do like my bicycle and sometimes it is so beautiful out I drive it to work.

I"m sorry your so upset. My intentions in no way was to upset anyone.

I think color choices/interior options are to each individuals decision and taste. I'm not here to tell anyone why their choice is wrong or right.
And yes when it came to my final decision before the order was placed for production I did change my mind. If I am not sure of my decision and might be disappointed later with my choice.
Then I choose to wait
.That is part of my decision making. And I am not here to be RIGHT just to express my thoughts So please accept my apology.

Thanks it is a very personal decision..........................
And after reading what I just wriiten in reply.
I noticed that I said
there are colors that I could have settled on
That is what I make a conscious choice not to do in my life. It also disturbs me even that it entered my thinking when choosing a MINI cabrio that I would live with daily. :D
I will not settle.but make my choice when I feel its right

Turb cab,

You asked early on in this discussion for my colour combinations see below my Tin Top.

I've made a few changes to what I like including a respary with metal flake and a leather retrim. Now I know its not to everyones taste but I like it.

My cabrio is Chilli Red with Aero Kit Black Roof black leather seats and red dash & door trim. I will post a picture soon.

Not to come off as bashing you, but from reading your posts, you seem extremely picky to the point that no auto will satisfy you. You like the cloth seats available, but they aren't "aggressive" enough? You love the two black color options, but worry it will make the car too hot? You like the blue/blue scheme but it may fade, and get hot. Everything fades when introduced to the sun for long periods of time. I just can't see how you were even able to get yourself to buy the MINI in the first place.

And, I believe this went unstated, I think you're forgetting about the most important point. How the car drives. Who cares if the car is five degrees hotter because it's black. Who cares if Joe Schmoe from the next car can see into your interior because you have the top down and what he thinks of it. It's how the car drives man! If you want a machine to impress someone, which it seems like you are, go get an M3 cabrio...

But again, it's your money so don't buy until you are satisfied to do so. ;)
