I had 215 40 18 on my car and it rubbed My offset is ET 42

Switch to 225/35/18 and solved the problem.

But the best size is 205/40/18 if you can get them.

cheers,

Cliff

The 18" Alpina wheels are fitted with 215/40, but the JCW wheels have a very odd offset. HOWEVER we do have the tyre limiter it fitted, so I cant see there being any problem with rubbing if you havent lowered it. I was going to go for 215/40 next time, but the 215/35 Falkens are awesome anyway, and theyre reinforced where the 215/40s arent.

Summer tyres FK-451
215/35 R18 84Y RF mit Felgenschutz With mytyres.co.uk only £ 94,40

215/40 ZR18 85Y mit Felgenschutz With mytyres.co.uk only £ 83,90

£10 a tyre!

Id say stick with 215/35 though, as I KNOW these fit with my tyres with Falkens. No point buying tyres only for them not to fit, but I think the 215/40 would fit in my honest opinion.

What tyres you going for though, as differant tyres have differant overall tyre width. So a 215/35 falken maybe thiner than say a 215/35 goodyear.

225/35 R18 wont fit an 18" rim, widest you can fit with the sidewall you need for a MINI is 215. I wanted 225s but wont fit the JCW 7" width.

215/35 on the JCWs are great makes the wheel look bigger and lowers the car slightly.

I've just fitted 215X40-18 Falken 451's on JCW 18'' alloys and have no problem with clearance back or front.

I've driven my MCS on full lock left and right - no problem.

the 40 series 215 means the speedo will read a little slow, but the extra meat on the wheel gives a little more protection from potholes.

regards,
Tim

Hi Damo,

I've not lowered mine, I'm on standard MCS Sports suspension plus.

I was looking at the rears wondering how they would fare if I had lowered the car, it looked tight enough.

Mines fine with the 215/35, theyre actualy no wider than the 205/40 Dunops but the Edge of the tyre is much more squared off, hence theyre 215s.

Yes, I've noticed that the Falken 215 are only a little wider than the goodyear 205's hence no problem with rubbing.

I live in Ireland where the roads are a lot rougher so I went with the 40 series hoping they would offer more rim protection than the 35's.

I'll need to live with them for a while to see how things work out.

The wheels are handsome though, I'm delighted with them.
