CarPlay Bluetooth iPhone

Hi All, I have an R56 2013 Cooper S with the standard centre speedo (no satnav) and the Harmon Kardon speaker option. My iPhone used to connect with Bluetooth so I could speak hands free, but somehow it stopped working/connecting a while ago. I‘ve got the ’CarPlay‘ button on the steering wheel, but that doesn’t seem to do anything. Should CarPlay work on a 2013 R56? Does anyone know an expert in the SE who can look at this for me?
