Have the chance to swap my 15" Steelies for the standard Clubman 15" Star Spooler alloys. Was wondering if this would have any adverse effects?? I would obviously switch to alloy nuts to avoid damage .

Can't think it would be a prob but dealer wants part numbers etc to see if the wheels are switchable.

Any advice welcome. Thanks

Cheers, that's what I thought but parts dept started with this cross reference part numbers stuff which didn't make a lot of sense!

Looks like I might be the first One D with Clubman wheels soon then!

You can run any size OEM wheels on your MINI.

Was at dealer yesterday for a fault and asked about wheels. They have confirmed that R55/56 wheels should not be retro fitted to an R50 as thread not identical and will wear poorly.

Strangley ok for R50 wheels to go on R55/56's.

Your dealer is misinformed ...

The size of the wheel bolts changed from M12x1.5 to M14x1.25 in July 2006. The bolt holes in OEM wheels are sized to accommodate either bolt size.

The front brakes on 2nd Gen Cooper S models are the same size as those in the 1st Gen JCW Brake Kit, so 15" OEM wheels will NOT fit on these models.

I could go a bit cross-eyed with this/ Good news is I have picked up a set of 15" 8 Spokes from an R50 and all done and fitted. Thanks for the advice though, just goes to show that it is not always easy to make what would appear to be a simple decision!
