for referance BMW mini Solihull wanted £400 to supply and fit a clutch
Thanks for the info r1_kde

Just had an excellent level of service from Mini motor sport centre on the South Coast.

Car is running brilliantly.

Tony carried out the original work on our 235 bhp mini and it was good to see Tony in his own premises.

What a really nice guy with a great attitude to business unlike some main dealers down here.
One of the most nicest transactions we have had in a while and we will go back for the new mod's we have in mind next month.

Thanks to :

MINI Motorsport Centre.

Im new

Im new to the Mini owners club (or my wife Nicki is) we have had a cooper on an 02 for 3 days and the clutch has gone, 56,000 on the clock, but according to the owner it has recently (a year ago) had a clutch replaced, as its sunday i have to wait till tomorrow to see if this is true and if so when and how many miles, ill let you knw.
Is this a car specific problem i mean will this happen again and again, if so why? Am i right in saying that the origonal clutch is of poor quality? if this is the case then what if a specialist was to look at the parts and found them to be of poor quality, wont trading standards get involved, surely BMW would want to keep this information under wraps and would have to do something, especially if the results were to be published on somewhere like this forum, not to intentionally ruin BMW but BMW rely on their reputation and name, and may then listen to those who cant afford to splash out over £1000 every year or two for a clutch.
many thanks
Pitt

Unfortunately Pitt its seems the case :(
The more people i talk to the more the clutch problem is an issue..
I was told the only way it could be deemed as a manufacturers problem was when it was replaced.. now you show me a dealership thats wiling to accept this as the reason and actually pay for the replacement clutch :p.. i mean, come on ! all they want is your money
When will BMW/MINI finally realise its forums like this that can soo easily help but oh soo easily hinder MINI sales, especially in this present climate ;)

great news

Listers BMW kings lynn norfolk, just got word the clutch was fitted 0ctober 06 in Scotthall Ruislip london. the car had covered 50,000 miles, when it went first time which is ok for a clutch, its done 5000 miles since then and they will fit under fitted parts warranty, free of charge. getting car back tomorrow, seems if its a genuine fault BMW will repair, i cant complain about Listers they have been brill, keep up the good work.
