Hiya! I’m a new mini owner and was wondering if someone could tell me the history of my car :) it’s a 1.6L mini convertible but it has colour coded wheel arches and grill. I can’t seem to find out why it’s like this and there doesn’t seem to be many like it. Was wondering if someone could tell me if this a limited edition kind of thing mini did? I can only seem to find them in 10 plates like mine. Thank you!!

Hi Ellie. To my knowledge, those bumpers are US spec (and probably a few other non UK countries). Whilst it's right hand drive I checked the DVLA MOT history checker and entered your registration number to see if it might have come into the UK from another country at a later date and, well, see the attached screen shot. I've never had this come up before, did you HPI/ history check the car before you purchased it? o_O

What that is... Is the Aero Sport Package. I cannot remember if you have the Aero package rear bumper to go with The front bumper is Aero Sport. Prodominantly sold in the larger cities in the U.S. Ranging from convertibles to Coupe's Aero sport package cam with painted fender guards. Not really common but not uncommon. I myself was gonna get a Aero sport bumper. But they no longer sell them at the place I knew had them. Lots of little pieces that go to making up that aerosport front bumper on that convertible.

Hiya! Everything was checked when I bought the car. The car is now registered to the private plates, which is probably why nothing is showing

Thanks for your response! We’ve been to a few mini garages and apparently it’s something they did in the UK for a year or two. No one seems to know much more than this. You can find some on sel

Welcome along, that’s the factory aero kit that’s on your car. Not too many of those around. The wheel arch trims (the ones above the wheels) used to come in Matt black plastic and then the skirts and bumpers were always colour coded. All the best with your new car!
