I am moving from the US to Canada where it's required that the speedometer display speed in KPH. Neither the dial nor the digital speedometers in my 2010 convertible support KPH currently. I've spoken with a few dealers and MINI USA and no one's been able to give me a definitive answer if this can be done either digitally via software upgrade or by replacing the dial. Does anyone have experience with this? Love the car and want to hang onto it but am trying to figure out whether it can be addressed and at what expense. Any insights, contacts or experience greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Canada!
I'm not sure what the inspection shop will let you get away with.
You can't change your big physical speedometer easily of course but you can set it so km appears on the little digital display in the tach. It might depend in the inspection facility if they let you get away with that. That's what most of us use anyway!

Thanks for your reply. Awaiting call back from a dealer in Montreal, hoping to confirm that a software update to change the digital display is possible.

Hmmmm, you shouldn't need the dealer?

What radio do you have?
I have the business navigation. (the one with the screen)
if you don't have that one, post a picture, there should be something similar.

From the Home Screen:
Pick Settings.
Then Language/Units
Then Distance
Then pick either km (Kilometers) or mls (Miles).

Both the digital speedometer and the odometer should change.
PICS!
