Hi there sony!

At present, the most know chip tuners do standard remaps for the dooper, whose values are around the 135 hp and an increase of 20 nm..

However, and as you might know, the sky is the limit..

If you change some hardware also, take off the particles filter, put a bigger IC, and work on the turbo...you reach some nasty numbers...:D

Have you seen dieselpower+? They claim 142BHP.
Holy cow! That's impressive..! thing is, will it give you lots of black smoke? invalidate warranty?? If it didn't i'd be very tempted to add it to my dooper!

...gotta say again, just looking at those numbers again makes me feel pretty darn excited! :p

Someone has got to seriously try this out and do a major report here on this forum! Surely someone here has bought one of these right?|

Their 3 year guarantee inspires a lot of confidence i have to say... i've said it before and i'll say it again.. i'm very tempted! :p

Just had a look at the site on the link;). Its a tune it box thingy they are selling not a remap! All that box will do is turn your fuel flow up and make your car chuck out black smoke:eek:. Stay clear and have a proper remap done on a rolling road. :D

This site claims a proper remap is the only way forward... have emailed but they keep dodging my questions about warranty.

P-Torque ECU Performance Software Specialists

This site claims their plug and play chip is so good that fleets of cars has been 'modded' with no affect to the warranty and according to them many large insurers recognise their work and the added benefits to their car!

Home » Diesel Power Tuning - Specialists in Diesel Tuning, Diesel Power and Diesel Performance using the DPT Tuning Box

Not sure who to believe.. anybody had any experience with any of these guys?

As per my reply on your previous thread some time ago.....P-Torque are site sponsors, and have an area to themselves lower down on the forum listing. There, you will find many threads recommending them to other site users, posted by satisfied site users. Recommends don't come much better IMHO.

A report from a highly satisfied P-torque customer. Like virtually everyone reading this thread, I did plenty of research and felt that Will Spooner of P-torque seemed to have more experience than anyone in sensibly remapping the Dooper ECU. So, 3 weeks ago, I drove down to Wolverhampton and let Will do his thing. Took about 90 minutes, sitting comfortably in his waiting room.

I must admit, when he took me on the test drive, I didn't initially notice an amazing difference. But, I took his advice and took notice over the coming weeks.

The standard Dooper engine mapping must be designed to achieve a class leading low CO2 figure. It is amazingly smooth between 1000 and 2000 rpm. Unfortunately, above this, it really seems to lack performance, particularly by comparison with a VW TDi.

After Will's remap, the smoothness from 1000 to 2000 rpm remains unchanged. However, above 2000 rpm, the engine is really willing to just go faster and faster and will happily carry on accelerating until 4000 rpm and beyond (far better than the 2.0 l VW TDi). The engine remains quiet and responsive.

Will told me that not only would I gain power but I could also gain a slight rise in mpg, making it win-win. Well, with great power, comes great speed and more diesel needed to overcome wind resistance. I have had my fuel economy in the mid 40 mpgs recently, exploring 6th gear and 3000-4000 rpm (I'll leave you to work out the road speed....). On the other hand, this evening, I managed 73 mpg driving home by setting the cruise control to a constant 68 mph on the motorway.

In short, in an ideal world, this would be a £500 extra on the option list with a Sport button to put the car into fun mode for the weekends or even the 3rd and 4th paddlesthat Lewis Hamilton uses on his McClaren Mercedes [http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/mo...an-Grand-Prix-Steering-clear-of-trouble.html]. Until then, send my regards to Will!

Really, thats a bold statemement.

He may be good. But if your playing with a diesel motor the last person in the world i would ask to remap it would be an American, Diesels are not exactly common out there.

There are a couple of guys in the UK who are very very good with Diesel. Red Dot racing have a lot of experience with Diesels and do custom rolling road remap. They have done quite a bit with the Peugeot HDI unit too. Another option is Allards who are basically the Diesel tuning gods. They race and prep diesel race cars. They even ran VW's race team. So if you want diesel tuning try them.

I still would'nt expect the same results off the dooper as seen on the VAG diesels though.

I hope I will notice the difference. I am getting rid of my 2.0TDI A3 for my dooper and with this remap hope I will feel similar performance- I felt as standard the dooper wasn't far behind the 2.0TDI anyway- the dooper is lighter and roughly has the same 0-62 time of the 2.0TDI vag engine (140bhp versions)

Hi,

confused.........why would anyone buy a Dooper only to get it re-mapped?

Surely any performance improvements will hammer the fuel efficiency?

If fuel efficiency was a concern would it not have been better to get a Cooper and then get it mapped?

Finally - doesn't remapping invalidate the warranty - something that we will have to rely on at some time?
