Yup, ordered it on launch day and took the showroom model to avoid a 5 month wait.
It cost me £15,500 and is a nice spec, and has been virtually faultless for 41000 miles.

I'm on my third fan belt tensioner (all at BMW's expense) and had both my headlamp motors fail at the same time, again fixed under warranty.

At the time, I recall that the only extras pack was the 'Salt', which was a whole different price bracket from today's 'Chili' pack.

I have been caught by Mrs H filling in a spreadsheet in the wee small hours, so surely it can't come a such a surprise can it?

So, at present I'm looking at...

A new/newish colour;

Sparkling Silver / Nightfire Red / Mellow Yellow (to save a few quid)
Chili
Colourline (probably red)
Piano Black
Heated Mirrors
White indicators
PDC
MFSW
Xenons

All of which tops out at £17375 of my hard earned.
Make that £18,069.00.

NR/W
Cream White colourline, but with all black seats
Chili pack now (will in future) include the storage pack and cost £1,995.
DAB radio now added

How the hell can I justify that just to go to work and back?

Ah well.

Will look good with the seats and kit, the dealer ok about putting the Aero kit on the car, in the past on the ONE D, some dealers would complain the front bumper restricted air flow into the engine?
13% discount is nice as well! :D

Hi all,

I think I am gonna sell my 04 S and make the move to a Cooper D.

Not too sure if my company will be able to supply as my company car (we normally have Mazda 3 Diesels) - waiting to find out.

If not will be via traditional dealership - I did spec one it came out around 17k

I wanted to keep the S but changes in our company car policy will mean I lose some of my travel funding - the costs of running the S so far everyday will cripple me.

I tried to get a quote on Mini select but they cant provide them yet - so I cant even arrange anything until at least early March.

But keen on getting one none the less

The latest version of PDC comes with a sort of Doctor Who / BBC Sound Workshop kind of noise. I'd buy it just for that. :D

Downloadable warning tunes for the next version no doubt - at extra cost of course.

Yikes, just specced a Cooper D (because I'm bored not to buy one!) to the same spec as my R56 MCS which cost £19075 and the cost was £18490!! The £1800 price difference is soon wiped out. Does this make the MCS good value? (Ans = No, they are still overpriced compared to competition)

Overpriced? Of course they are.

But I wouldn't mind betting that a CD will hold its value better than most, especially when you consider the advance of green issues in the car market.

Think Ive got everything worthwhile specced

Hi all
First post on here. I was originally going for a Cooper S, but due to me doing up to 20k miles per yr, I have since placed a deposit on a Cooper D with the following spec:

Light(e)ning Blue
Black roof/stripes
Chili

MFSW
Auto air-con
Heated winscreen washer jets
Chrome Interior
Visibility Pack
Front armrest
Sport button (unsure if it gonna make difference to a diesel - but we'll see!)
6 CD Changer (quicker to stick an mp3 cd in than load up and use an iPod)
HI-Fi

Can't really decide on what colours to have the dashboard ect. Is the silver worth keeping?

Just under 18k!

But i'm currently driving a 174k miles Peugeot 406 Turbo Executive (Petrol) that only does 30mpg., so I think I might just notice the difference in mpg.

9.9 secs 0-60 isnt that quick, but its not far off many other diesels like a Golf GT TDI (9.4) and a Skoda Fabia vRs (9.5) so going on tests of those, it should be able to keep up with 60-70% of the traffic out there.

Good point but you lose money on lots of extras over and above the chilli pack no matter what Mini you get. My MCS returned 43.3 MPG over 120 miles on the motorway at 70 MPH on the cruise control. The tax and emissions are good (not as good as the CD) but petrol is cheaper than diesel. Some one worked out you have to do a high mileage above 17000 miles per annum to make a Cooper D pay over a Cooper. If you intend to pay £18000+ for a diesel then you can't be that hard up so get a Cooper S instead, have fun and save the planet when not having so much fun! (ie driving steady);)
