Good afternoon, I have recently acquired a 2010 R56 Cooper S Lci which has the factory media satnav. Issue I have is that the nav screen background is black which is fine at night but difficult to see in the daylight. There is no day/night mode to switch and sometimes on starting up the message pops up insert DVD which is already in situ. I then have to remove the DVD front cover, eject the DVD and reinstall, a real pain in the backside. I also have the factory CD player which has a CD stuck in it and all attempts to remove have proved fruitless. The navigation is almost out of the ark its so outdated even though the DVD is 2019/2020 maps.
To be honest I would like to replace the whole media with either a later mini connected system or an android based system. Is this possible and if there are any links to a suitable solution so I have readable maps, CD player and radio that can be controlled by the steering wheel controls.

I know if I had the standard non factory centre display and head unit then the one featured in your reply Coolhands would work but all the android units I have seen for sale state not suitable for cars with original factory satnav. Anyone know if I swapped out the whole control unit in centre console with the later single CD/DVD slot rather than my current two if this would work with my current screen and if it requires coding.
