could be a boost pipe leaking, smoke test the system a must do job to rule it out first, then could be egr valve faulty, could even be a turbo fault but normally that flags a under boost or over boost code, what year diesel is it

2012 i’ve had a new EGR valve fitted and the new engine coolant fitted it’s an intermittent fault it’s not doing it all the time but I’m just trying to find out what the problem is

you need a smoke tester machine ie what all garages have, as egr has been changed and I would guess has been coded to car when changed with diagnostics tool, might even be a dpf related issue ie filter is fairly blocked and causing a through pressure issue the air flow meter detects is another likely issue , also while there is any fault code stored on ecu the system will fail to regen the dpf filter and make it worse until one day it dont run or turbo fails from back pressure and heat common out come,
