Hey all it's me again! I was hoping to get some insights from you Mini aficionados in regards to the 2009 Mini Cooper S JCW. I've just bought myself one however I'm starting to notice some differences between it and some of the online images I've seen. I'm hoping you guys can help me out with answering a couple questions.

1. How ca you tell that you've got a Genuine JCW and not a MCS with a Kit upgrade?
2. Is it possible to upgrade the lower door paneling to the aero ones easily?
3. How can I discover the part number for an extra exhaust I got with the vehicle? I'd like to resell it but I want to make sure I'm not asking too little/much for it.

The biggest concern I have is that it's a kitted MCS and not a JCW. There is a certificate with the car and under the hood which have matching ID numbers. The door sill trim is black vs body colour, the metal plate on the sill when you open the door says Cooper S, and the rear and front bumpers look like the non-aero kit type. Inside there are the LED interior accent lights, every possible feature except Navigation screen and JCW shift knob & E Brake handle.

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can offer I really appreciate the guidance.

That car is a Cooper with the JCW tuning kit added

Exhaust tips will have a JCW Logo etched into them. A Factory JCW will have plain exhaust tips.

The JCW badge on a Cooper S with JCW Kit is mounted on the grille as per your car. On a Factory JCW it is mounted on the lower air intake grille.

Also a Factory JCW will have upgraded red brembo brakes, a different indicator surround in chrome with no "S" on it. A Factory JCW didn't come with a Certificate.

The aero side skirts are an easy install. If you post a pic of the exhaust you got with the car, it may well be the standard Cooper S exhaust that was removed when the dealer fitted the JCW tuning kit.

Thanks so much for the information! I am having the wheels swapped to summers this week and I'll have a closer look at the brakes. The guy who sold it to me swore up and down it was a genuine JCW but something in my gut was telling me this wasn't. I'm not sure if he intentionally duped me or if he was just oblivious to it being kitted.

Here are the images I took of the exhaust.
