My three-month old MCS just got a razor blade-sized piece of metal in the passenger-side rear tire, right in the tread. Slow leak, so I've been driving on it for a few days, topping off the air as necessary. I'm going to try and get it fixed or replaced tomorrow.

If this is too big to patch or plug (I'm guessing patch?) do I replace just that tire, or both back tires? The car has ~5k miles on it.

I'd expect that since this is in the tread and not the sidewall that the tire is repairable. If it must be replaced with only 5000 miles, my choice would be to just replace the single tire.

Replace both. Save the good one and buy a used wheel from eBay or something for use as a spare.
