We have a 2011 facelift LCI R56-S and I'm planning to, very slowly, put together the various Harman Kardon components & trim, to eventually attempt a retro-fit. Currently, the car has the standard audio system (not "Hi-Fi" and no separate amp) so I'm looking around for an HK amp.

For the 2nd gen R56 these seem to come in two flavours;
  • 2007-2010, pre-LCI: part number 65123451405
  • 2010 onwards LCI: part number 9239601
Does anyone know if there's a major difference between the two amps and crucially, should I definitely get the later LCI amp for our LCI R56? The only reason for asking is the LCI amps seem to be significantly more expensive.

Thanks,

Stebe

The HK has different equalisation for each channel to get the best out of the speakers. Maybe the earlier amp didn't have this hence the different price? How far have you got with sourcing the parts. It is far easier to install (you break into the X9331 connector in the passenger footwell) aftermarket speakers and amp and it is likely to be better value.
