yes its all linked the condenser ie the fan on front of car must have clod air pulled through it to cool the gases so they start the journey gain ie to pump and then to evaporator, when engine is running doe the clutch engage on air con pump can you see it spinning, also get someone to switch air con on in car while watching the pulley, if pulley runs briefly then shuts down on some cars the system senses a fault with cooling fan circuit and will shut down the clutch on the pump.Wondered if anyone knows?
I had a pipe burst on my 2006 R53 air con system a couple of years ago. Have finally got round to replacing the pipe, also a new condenser/drier was fitted and has been re gassed. According to the guy who gassed it, it is holding at the correct pressure.
However when i switch the aircon on, the compressor does not come on. It has climate control, the green light stays on solid to say all is good but no cold air and no compressor!
I have just tested the first stage fan which I believe is also supposed to come on when the air con is on, and this does not work. The second stage is fine and comes on at 112 degrees.
Does anyone know specifically if the first stage fan doesn’t come on, will it stop the compressor starting up?
below link common fan problem, pack lives within the radiator cooling fan plastics behind the rad,
