Door mirror plastic cover

I'm so careful with my car, it seems that at any slight distraction I don't get away with it!

I've got an annoying scratch on my left door mirror plastic (mine is white) cover. That part seems detachable, is it easily removed? I guess the best solution is to paint the entire cover as I retouched it but it stands out like a sore thumb!

Yeah it pulls off easily but you need to start it off by levering it, best to get a bluntish object, so as not to cause any damage and start underneath nearest to the car. Then once you have managed to get another room to get your fingures behind it should just pop off. It does feel like you're being a bit brutal with it but it will come off.
The drivers side is so much harder to get off because one of the clips (furthest from the car) is so short. I ended up breaking the clip on mine.

If you tilt the mirror all the way down and poke one of those little led torchs in there you'll see the 3 clips.

I used 3 knives to leaver them off. my wife was there to catch the knives that i wasn't working with to protect the car. once you've levered the clips off the mirror cup will just roll off forward releasing the 2 clips below.

It wasn't so hard, but the ease of the passenger side compared to the drivers side was so annoying.
