2010 Mini Countryman ALL4 Cooper S (82,000 km)

The drivers side door won't open - it was fine on the test drive, but when I stopped at home, it simply wont unlock. The outer handle bar won't move, and the inner handle extends all the way but the door doesn't open. All other doors are absolutely fine. I suspect it is a mechanical issue, but does this sound familiar to anyone?

OK, so an update, seems that this is a common issue on Mini's - my repairist told me that because the job is so complicated, Mini normally replace the whole lock mechanism and surrounding parts (because they all break when you try to get access to the actual lock) at a cost of nearly 750 GBP! However, he managed to get the door panels off without damaging the door (took him 4 hours) and has ordered the lock. Total cost including labour will be about 250GBP - bear in mind that labour costs are slightly cheaper here in CZ
