Not exactly a fault, but a strange occurance.

This morning on my drive to work, I fired up my MCS '02 to be met by a lovely shrill bleep and the thermometer on the speedo flashing at me, it was 2 degrees.

It has been the coldest I've driven the car in, but the question is: Is this a safety feature that I didn't know about that tells you when its cold? (like you hadn't already noticed on the walk to the car?!!)
