F60 Change rear pads. Release rear parking brake?

I'm about to change the rear brake pads on my other half's F60 for the first time. On other cars I've done this on, I've needed an electronic method to tell the car to release the electronic parking brake before starting. Either OBD service tool, or via a menu on the car's interface. For the F60, Google searches on how to do this, or whether it's even necessary have come up with nothing.
I found a great write-up here, but no mention of any step to release the parking brake apart from disconnecting the feed to it. Does anyone know? I'd rather have the facts before starting the job. Thanks.
