Front brake pads uneven wear

Hi first time poster so apologies if I’m missing anything here. Just looking for some honest and impartial advice.

I have a Mini Cooper SD (year 2015) and 28K Miles.

I’ve been told at the dealership my front brake pads are uneven (passenger side is 8mm and driver side is 6mm)

They are suggesting to strip them down, I may have a Caliper stuck, May need to replace calliper and to put a new set of pads on . I have been quoted £80 for strip down, around £300 for new calliper (if stuck) and almost £300 for new set of front brake pads.

Is this worth doing? Is 2mm a lot of difference? or should I just wait until one side wears to 3mm and get it all sorted later down the line.

Iv been told conflicting information at 2 garages, MINi said yes needs doing, independent mini specialist said no don’t bother.

Opinions please?
