Front tow-hitch point ?

I've noticed this from one of the show photo's. And havn't noticed it before. Is it where a screw in tow adaptor would go ?. And if so, I hope theres a cover of some kind. On the Pure Silver it sticks out like dogs b*lls!

Note the DS S has no hole !

PS. I LOVE those stripes :D

Basil,

spoke to my dealer, and he says that it's one of the driving lights that are fitted as standard on OZ 'S' Coopers. Seems that our list of extras in comparison to USA and UK models is getting bigger all the time.

Regards, eltel

If he's anything like my dealer eltel, he wouldn't know his a** from his elbow !!!.

He's most probably confused it with the foglights in the bumper, coz what ever that thing is above it's only on ONE side of the car.

If you look closely at the DS shot, it looks like there's a little black cover over the hole. I suspect it's fallen out on the Pure Silver one.

cheers
Driving lamps, well, I'll laugh my *ss off!:D
Ofcourse it's the insertion-point for the tow-hook :) !

You can see the covering cap better in this detail:

Here's a press picture (lightened) of the Cooper S which I previously posted to show much of the lower grill opening is fake.

But you can more clearly see what looks like a cap for the tow hook. :) Good spotting Basil!

Ive only seen them in red :D :D :D
mystery hole

Seems mighthy small to be an opening to attach a tow eye!
Maybe it's where the outside temp sensor is?

If I get towed, I'll just weld a big RED eye to the roof!

If not, forget it.
Works Club Sport has a permanent tow hook on the opposite side - Now if I were JCW and there was already a nice easy place to put a screw in hook wouldn't you use it and save a few quid as well ??

I think part of this may be the difference between a Cooper and a Cooper S and the hardware behind the bumper cover being in different locations.

Since the Work Club Sport is based on the standard Cooper and it's tow hook location, at least with the standard front bumper (the half circle under the chrome bumperette), is no place you'd put a permanent tow hook. Perhaps that's why JCW moved it?

Interestingly they used the standard tow hook position on the cars they sent to Oz for the Grand Prix -Now these weren't proper Club Sports as far as I can make out but a bit of a hybrid - ANyway a bit of topic but someone will get to the bottom of it
