I've had a 2006 R53 JCW for a few months now and have been experimenting with fuel.

Texaco Supreme Unleaded saw 385 miles on a tank.

Shell V Power about 350.

I've driven under approximately the same conditions ( commute) each time.

What returns are you seeing for a full tank?

At a constant 60mph you should be able to get 400 miles.

I managed 470+ miles from a 55 litre tank in my 2L Toyota MR2 on a long run which was around 48mpg :)

Man I wish! Commute out of Bristol and home over 20 miles I average approx 20mph, often less.

Most I ever got from my R50 was 350 miles I don’t know if the tank is the same size.

I decided trying to improving your MPG is a futile exercise I mean if you consider (using my car as example) cost of fuel is 1/3 of total motoring costs and you can squeeze out 20% more MPG by adjusting your driving that’s about 7% less overall cost.

When you consider that 7% is the difference between a mind numbingly boring driving experience and a great driving experience spending that extra 7% is a no brainier to me - if you want an economy experience buy a diesel saloon and get probably 100% more MPG!! ::wink::

Just my opinion f course and your mileage (literally) may vary lol

My One now has a new O2 sensor it is averaging 42mpg brim to brim.

It's amazing what those pesky pricks can do, they rarely cause a check engine light, so many people are driving around with dicky ones.

And the result of ****ed O2 sensors was on my particular car 26mpg ;) lol

My 2005 R53 about 300 mlies per tank. Best I get is if I can find Tesco Momentum99. Had 360 with that on a long run.

My 2011 Volvo C30 1.6D, can't get it below 60 mpg. On an 85 mile run a few months ago, motorway and rural mix, 71.4 mpg. So stunned, I took a pic. OK, that was on the computer.

So when you brim it it usually says at least 700+ miles to empty tank. And the VED is £0.

The MINI is the MINI:big_grin:

Forgive my ignorance, but what is an O2 sensor and where can I find it and replace it?

So some googling has let me know what an O2 sensor is. How would I know mine needs replacing unless the EML light tells me via the code reader? I guess a local mini specialist could test mine. Just need to find a good one in Bristol

I found my codes accidentally when i was scanning for a different problem..

They didn't trigger an EML light..

A good code reader is a great asset to have with the Mini

I have the Icarsoft i910

This may be off topics a little but.
I seen some of you recently replaced 02 sensors .
Are the front 02 sensor wires on a r53 jcw longer than a r53 s ?? I need a longer wire 02 sensor for my long tube headers and don't know which to use..
