Hi,
I have a 2013 Mini Cooper D, 1.6 with about 60,000 miles on the clock

Just before christmas the car was on the motorway and just slowed to a halt with no power, recovered to local garage. Fault diagnosis of No 1 injector, bought a 2nd hand unit and fitted, lasted about five hours. It feels like the car goes into a limp mode, struggles to restart and then drives at about 30 miles per hour.
Garage has checked low pressure and high pressure pumps amongst other things and has, after three months admitted defeat.

It starts, drives fine and then just stops.

Questions

1. Does this sound familiar?, any thoughts?
2. Local Mini Specialist?
3. Main Dealer

Hoping the forum can assist??

Thanks

Jools

timing chain might of jumped teeth common problem with n47 diesels,, also egr valve common failure point, need to have a garage that knows what they are looking at ,, and has good diagnostics tool that can do some live data runs on it,, ie check fuel pressures ,,, check dpf filter before and after pressure ie might be the dpf filter has clogged and is preventing turbo to spool up etc,, or like said before all those n47 diesels do their timing chains around that miles ,,, where in uk are you

thats a good bit of info i would suspect one of the piezo injectors has given up or the wiring harness to it perhaps, when it fails can fail a few ways one is just a dead cylinder no smoke, the other is fail open and bleed off fuel rail pressure and fue directly in to the cylinder and give white smoke and smell very unburnt diesel fumes ,,
shame your a long way away from me i could of had a look if were closer,,
need to do a leak off test on the injectors see what fuel if any is being pushed back the return pipe to by each injector, also live data and diagnostics plug in so what codes and live data run see what fueling on each injector is,, ie all 4 should be around same around -4 to +4 on idle on the corrections on a perfect engines , if see one that is a lot bigger eitherway then that will be the cylinder ,, also can live data smooth running and misfire count to help point at correct cylinder..
