Although I started this thread I must now change my mind.

I started this thread a long time ago when the mini had just came out and I was less than happy with the service.

I am now on my second Cooper from the same dealer and a lot of changes have been made.

I now think that John Clark in Aberdeen is very good and the staff could not be anymore helpfull.

Two to avoid:

Scotthall Cambridge - Salesman insisted on coming for a test drive with myself & girlfriend, but claimed the insurance meant he had to sit in the front. Hmmm, am I really going to buy a car from you after you made me sit in the back. To be frank I don't know why he even bothered with the test drive in the circumstances, all he did was waste 45 minutes of his time.

Specialist Cars Luton - All OK during ordering. On collection day, the only MINI salesman left me hanging around for an hour whilst he was busy trying to sell a car to another couple, despite insisting that I arrive at a certain time. Remainder of BMW salesman wandering around with nothing to do, but receptionist claiming that 'nobody else is available to help'. I did enjoy it when I got the phone call from MINI customer services asking me to 'Rate my Buying Experience'.

Two to consider:

Murketts Huntingdon - Nice salesman, went out out of his way to arrange a test drive despite having other customers around. Only didn't buy from there as too long a lead time.

Elms Bedford - They were happy to just give you the keys for a test drive. Would have bought from there if they could have been bothered to give me a ring back with a price for the trade in. They didn't call until a week after they had promised, by which time I had been to Specialist Cars.

To be honest the thing that MINI/BMW dealership's don't seem to have realised is that since there is no discount on the car (and with the warranty and servicing being transferable), the only reason to choose one against the other is on how they treat the customer.

I know they have been mentioned a couple of times on this thread, but I haven't got a bad word to say about Barons. Lee at the Farnborough dealership was great, very helpful, talked through all of the options and wasn't afraid to stay past closing time to have a chat.

Car has been back with them once for a rattle to be fixed and even though you then deal with the main dealership (BMW) they were all great as well (none of this condesending treatment I have read elsewhere).

Only really funny thing was when i wne to collect my mini. The only other saleman left in the ealership locked up with us still outside!! Funny to see how the mini and BMW salesman speak to each other!! I would definitely buy from them again. :)

LLOYDS OF COCKERMOUTH, have been excellent, anything bad has been out of their control, like delays on seats. Heather in servicing is great and Andrew Thomas in sales shows a real knoledge and love of his product, not just a love of commision. I was suprised at how snobby they were not.

reccomended
This was my old account, from when I first bought a new MINI. About to pick up my fifth, a Cooper S 5 door exclusive.
