I bought a very nice 2006 Mini Cooper S (R53) a few days ago.

I removed a light bar that was spoiling the look of the car. It was powered by the engine bay live pick up and was wired into the the main beam with only one wire. As far as I know, I did not disturb any other wiring.

I went to start the car, all the electrical system and lights work, but the EML light stayed on. The engine seems to be immobilized and the starter will not turn. The battery is strong and all else appears normal.

Could anybody kindly, tell me what I could have done please? ::frown::

Thanks for your reply.

I did not, I was impatient to remove the lamp. I checked all the fuses in the engine bay, which were fine. I went through some appropriate fuses in the cabin which were also fine.
