HELP!! good insurers for MINI's?!

1329 Views 11 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  oggy-oggy-oggy
hey there, i'm a 20 year old female and I have owned my 2002 Cooper S for a year now. when i first had it i had 1 year no claims, and the cheapest quote i could find for insurance was £1,300.

now i got 2 years no claims and the cheapest i can find is £1,100. :frown:

i was just wondering if anyone knows any good insurers i can get a cheaper quote with?? , it seems like all the insurance companies on the compare websites want to rip me off... and i haven't got time going around all the companies typing them in individually...

my insurance is dew up on the 4th of feb coming, but i also got to pay tax, a service and got to replace the two back run flat tyres..

i love mini's <3 , but they are expensive ayee!! haha.

any help would be greatly appreciated!!

thank you very much!! Ellie :)

try direct line

i'm 21 and mines due in june, had a little peek and with 2yrs ncb on my '03 cooper it'll be around £634. thats with a multi car discount from my folks' cars but even with the £80 odd quid i've gained from that its still cheeper than you've been offered...

.... :D direct line ad was just on tv (the one with stephen fry and paul merton's voices) and they're doing 12 months for the price of 10 that should save u a few more pennies...

best of luck. i know how u feel.... my insurance, service (inc a coolant problem) tax, M.O.T are all due in the first half of the year :(

hey there, thanks for reply. i did read a few of the other topics in insurance and finance, and tried a few that people have mentioned, one being direct line. i'm unable to get a quote, you have to be either 21 or 22 and over! :frown: my boyfriend just went on there for a try on his Type R though and got a really good one! haha!

most companies i've tried that others have mentioned, can't give me quotes because of my age. really gutted. one person mentioned Adrian flux for young drivers, i went on the website but you can only get quoted over the phone, try them tommorrow!

any other ideas?! x
hmmmmm, i've been with directline since 18 when i was driving my parents cars n they've insured me on my mini while i was 20 and my mx5 when i was 19 so i don't know why they won't insure you! i thought women's quotes were supposed to be lower. could you get your boyfriend to insure it and go as an additional driver or get a 3 / 6 month policy till you turn 21 and then take out a year at the lower premium?

the only other low quote i've got hs been from churchill and that was with a £600 excess!

hi, im 22 and just renewed my cooper S for only £570 fully comp with churchill. NEVER EVER use comparision sites (thats all of them, from confused to supermarket etc..), every single time on every single car they are always much more expensive than if you go direct to the big companies.

I managed to save over £100 by putting two big companies against each other, so phoning them is worth while. Also, and i dont know if it will work for you as your a girl, but i added my 22 yr old girlfriend as a named driver and it lowered my premium by nearly £150, its madness thats its cheaper with extra people but honestly it works, try it!!
Have u tried Adrian Flux they do give you a discount for being part of the mini clubs

Not sure if there will accept you with your age

If not i a just about to leave quinn direct i was with them from 22-24 & they have been very competive up untill know

Good luck
thanks for the replies everyone!
after reading other peoples posts about insurance on here yesterday i tried direct line, churchull, quinn direct, tescos and first alternative, and i was too young on all of them, even to be a named driver and have my dad as the main one..

my boyfriend hasn't got any NCB anways soo it would be pointless going on his...

but GOOD NEWS!! i just had a quote with bell.
on my own name, fully comp and added my mother and father as named drives.. £775

i'm going to ring adrian flux now, i can only get quoted over the phone. maybe they can get it lower for me, if not i can tell Admiral that i don't want to carry on with them anymore because i've had a better quote.. and the funny thing is Bell is part of the Admiral group.. maybe get it even lower again!!

:D
I've just moved from Admiral to Bell. Even though part of same group was a whopping £130 lower.

Sub £200 for my Dooper:wink:
AAAAAAAAAAAARGH:angry:

I pay an ABSOLUTE fortune for my 05 Cooper!!!

I'm a 20 year old guy(just on the 7th of jan:D) so got my Cooper when I was 19 and have now been driving for 2 years and 3 months with no claims throughout my driving history. My insurance was just transferred from my Megane as it was based on Insurance Groups so there was no price difference, which was £2200(i know, for a Megane is out of order!!!). Then renewal time came I got a quote from a price comparison site at about 1500 that I was pretty pleased about...but when i called them it went up to again just over 2 grand, don't kno why, they just said thats what it was. Went with it as it's what I've been paying anyway and couldn't get any cheaper.

The other day I decided to do another quote just as I was being nosey and wanted to see what i was looking forward to. To my shock..its went UP AGAIN. is it just me or is this NOT the way its supposed to work??...used 3 different sites all returning pretty much the same rubbish prices!

I've tried adding older drivers to see if that brings it down, but NAH!!!

any advice guys before I'm declared bankrupt!!!

cheers:D

:d:d:d:d:d:d:d:d

Guys..just thought I would let you know that I got an amazing quote from Adrian Flux today!! £1600 with sooo much stuff included!:D...that saved me £600 from my last insurer!! Happy Days;)

I would urge all people to give them a shot!!
Everyone seem to love A.Flux @ the mo incld me - they seem to luv us mini owners which is brill :)

I just changed from a renwal of £730 to jus over £450 from A.Flux so only got till mon & then mine will be a flux mini ;-)

So yes there well worth a try not for all but seem to be for many

Glad you got it sorted - i know whats it like - it a nice weight of your mind when you find a great price
im trying to get some quotes for a new One Pepper 1.4, with jcw aero kit and jcw wheels. Im 23 with 0 years NCB and having just passed my practical test, very little experience. i've called Tesco, Direct Line and Bell and they are either not insuring me because of the mods...or the premium £3-6k!!!!!!

am i missing a trick somewhere? or is it because of my age/experience and car mods that prices are so high...EVEN FOR A ONE!
I will call Adrian Flux tomorrow but are there any other companies for young people with similar circumstances for me to call? Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks
