I have the spotlights on my Cooper S but I came out today to find them on and they won't switch off. Is there a fuse or something I can take out until I get it to the dealer?

On the R53.

If you open the bonnet, as you are looking at the car, on the righthand bulkhead near the main fuse box, there is a bracket that has a fusebox for the spots mounted on it. It has a rubber boot on it that has 2 wires coming out of the top of it. One of these is red, pretty heavy gauge wire and runs off to the main fusebox, there is a fuse you can pull out in the spot lights fuse box.

What's a relay exactly?
It's a switch that uses a low current to switch a high current circuit on. So when you flick your main beam on, it completes the low current circuit, which then closes the relay contacts, that complete the high current circuit i.e. the spot lights come on. The relay could remain stuck closed when the low current circuit drops, which could cause your problem.
