how do i remove a cooper s gear knob???

Method I found worked, is put it in second sit in the passenger seat and give it a good hard steady pull, not a yank just a good steady tug

Worked for me

Good luck and mind if it pings off.... can give yourself a nasty smack with it

so it doesn't unscrew and there are no clips holding it on??

Nope, just pull straight up really hard (and careful) it should just "snap" off and on

just done mine, yeah in second gear, good hard pull.
then slide on a nice Whalen, the only knob to have in the hand.
can't belive the difference it makes.

Yep, a good hard straight pull -- don't worry, the Whalen knob goes on much easier and is easier to remove, if necessary.

all done now,and not even a black eye. cant belive how easy it was. thanks to everyone for all your advice. easy when you know how.
