I am just fitting a scorpion catback exhaust to my mini R56 normally aspirated.

I have purchased a new genuine mini V clamp. Inside the V comes a stainless steel ring with many little tabs wrapped around it (it can be seen on image 2 here: https://www.1320.co.uk/b-genuine-replacement-mini-parts-vband-exhaust-clamp-18302756352 ). I cannot work out how these little tabs work. Are they sandwiched between the downpipe flange and the new exhaust, or do they wrap around the back of the downpipe flange to sit the gasket in place?

I have looked at instructions on TIS and it says nothing about them.

I’d like to add , that the person needed to continue to torque the fastener and tapping the clamp until two times of no loss of torque on the nut meaning . Torque ,tap , tap , tap . Applied torque and fastner rotated and torque .
