Both the Cooper and the Cooper S get (airconditioned) gloveboxes in certain markets as standard equipment - Australia and US for example.

Are you saying in the German market only the Cooper S has this feature?

I think the "S" in Germany hasn't got a glovebox. It's not standard for the Cooper (and Cooper Chili) too.
In the picture from miniusa.com-gallery-interior and in the official brochure is the "S" also without glovebox.
It's look like very "sportivity"

Have you spotted something else that the S has that the Cooper or One doesn't ?.

Have a close look at the pedals.....particularly the clutch foot rest.
