It is very sad for me to write this, but my father Edward, infamously known as MaxaMini has passed away. We are surrounded by friends and family, but deeply saddened by the sudden and unexpected loss of my father. He was an incredible man, a wonderful husband, and an unparalleled father. Lastly, he was a devoted Mini owner. You all were very important to him, and the last years of his life were filled with many great adventures with many of you. He was so proud to be amongst your ranks and he was truly blessed with many fond memories of his time with you all. He will be missed but forever remembered. God Bless you all. As we get more details I will post them here. Thank you all for your friendship and support.

I think there may be a picture of this scene from MINIs on Top with Ed in action, but this is the first one I found:

That did it..I lost it when I saw this picure posted..
There's a typical Ed-like story to go along with the photo of the duck in the lake. I was out driving around in the middle of newhere Vermont - the Northeast Kingdom. I saw a sign for public boat access to a lake, and headed out that way. There was a little sandy beach and the water was the perfect temperature for wading. I didn't have a bathing suit or towel with me though. As I'm standing in the water, a few (live) ducks start to swim by. I race back to my car to grab the rubber ducky and my camera to get a picture. Of course, the picture of the real ducks and the rubber ducky doesn't come out. I'll attach it to this post anyway, though. So, I'm fooling around trying to get a good picture of just the rubber ducky. I'm crouching down nice and low to make it look like the duckie is further away than it really is. I'm focused on the picture, not what I'm doing. Sure enough, I wind up crouched down far enough that I'm now sitting in the water. :D With no towel or change of clothes.

But, it gets better. I hang out on some nice big rocks that are lining the beach trying to air dry my shorts. I eventually give up and get back in the car to head home. I'm cruising around the great back roads of Vermont... going fast and knowing that I am going fast. Sure enough, I round a corner and a police car is coming the other way. I saw his brake lights in my mirror and realized I was caught. I had already pulled over on the side of the road and was sitting there waiting for the cop to get me. He was cool about it and gave me a very reduced ticket.

The whole time I'm dealing with the officer, I'm thinking "don't ask me to step out of the car - I don't want to have to explain why it looks like I peed my pants".

:D

sarcastically and somewhat incoherently.

That was one of my favorite things about Ed... how a large percentage of the time his posts made little sense. Sometimes I'd think "what the hell is he saying?" Other times I'd think I was almost understanding what he was saying, which was a little scary. :D Then, every once in a while, he'd posts something that was incredibly clear and the contrast was startling and you knew he really, truly meant what he was saying.

My duck, given to me by Ed, rides in the cupholder of my MINI. My god-daughter Lily loves to play with it, but understands that it's my duck. :) I'm pretty sure she's the only one who has the honor of playing with the duck (besides me). the duck travels with me to the track when I go, but has to sit in the pits in the plastic box with all the rest of the stuff I've taken out of the car. Perhaps I need a better place for him to sit and watch when he's not in the car...
