Changing the instrument cluster to another one that has higher KM reading. Was told it will keep the high KM reading. As for the keyless remote. Records the km as well it will take from the new odometer or will take the actual reading from ecu?

Or if the key has the old km reading it will update to new one on ignition

I've recently changed the cluster on my r50 cooper (2001). The mileage on the new (used) cluster now displays on the dash. Everything else works correctly. No coding has been attempted, just a straight unplug one/plug in another job.

I've no idea if that applies to your car as I don't know what model yours is.
