interior chrome

is this a popular option? i havent seen it in person, but it looks pretty nice from a couple of pics previously posted on another thread. those who have this option, are the chrome pieces actually made of metal, or are they the normal grey plastic pieces having received the chrome treatment?

The chrome interior is a must. Minis without it seem to be sorely lacking!
I do believe the pieces are chromed plastic. But it looks like and feels like metal pieces. Well worth the small price. Aftermarket chrome pieces I have seen don't look nearly as good.

You don't really appreciate how good the chrome looks until you drive a non chrome MINI.I had a courtesy car MO when i had my viper stripes done and it looked so bare without the chrome.Definately worth the £80.

I'm most pleased that I got the chrome interior -- compared it with a friends who doesn't have the chrome and i'm sooooooo glad - just enough shiny bits to be classy but not garish IMHO

it's too late to tick the interior chrome option for my MSC now that it arrived. dealer said that the this option could only be done at the factory and once the car has left the assembly line it's too late. i have seen aftermarket chrome hoops for the speedo, tacho and airvents, but they cost a fortune for what they are. is there any other alternative that i could explore? eg. bring the original grey plastic bits to a chroming specialist...

Er not true........all the OEM parts are available through your dealer's parts dept, but with one exception.....the rev. counter chrome......this has to be bought either as a complete assy (as in tacho) or as an aftermarket cover.

Do a search in this forum, and you'll find the thread with all the part numbers on.....from memory it's about £40 for all the rings, plus another £40 for the brake handle.....

Here's the link....

Hope this helps?

Thanks heaps for the info and the accompanying link. Being in Aus, i guess mini parts arent as readily available as in the UK. The problem is even if the chromed parts are available, the dealer doesnt seem too keen on putting them in for me. Maybe i'll just have to do it myself.

Cheers.
