Decided recently to look at the possibility of adding the Carbon Dash kit to my car only to discover it was over £300 :eek:

Just wondering if anyone has tried to use the existing pieces and get them wraped in a "Carbon" effect vinyl :confused:

I reckon with a bit of perserverance it should be possible. You'd probably need an extra set of hands, at least one heat gun and lots of patience. It'd look pretty tat if you mess it up though :hmph:

The flat-ish panels would be easy enough, but the speedo rings/heater rings (can't think what they're like in the R56, mind) are a lot harder!

I was actually thinking of just getting the 2 dash pieces done to try (pic Attatched) gonna get the retro-fit chrome for the speedo etc

Perhaps it would be benificial paying a pro car graphics specialist and get the job done well.

you could carbon it yourself.

take your dash off, then cling film it (really tight and tape it on the reverse side), get some carbon sheet - cover it in the correct resin, stretch it over the dash, making cuts where necessary, leave it to dry and lacquer it 3/4 time with a days drying on each coat.

if it works (when totally solid you can take it off, put some epoxy resin on and stick it to your dash. if it doesnt you can try again till you get it right.

i know a few people who have done this and saved a fortune!
