Hi all, hope you are well. I have just bought a 2008 Cooper and have seen that it has a factory fitted ipod cable in it. Now I know that it's abit old school but I do have a working ipod with loads of songs so would like to use it. Problem is that when I connect it, it powers on, charges and shows the mini icon but that's as far as I can get. When I press thhe audio button I only CD, aux tuner. I have pulled the radio fuse but still nothing. I guess it mini went to the trouble of fitting it it should work.

If anyone can shed some light as to why it may not be working that would be great.

Cheers

Yep, I've had similar problems, and found that using an Ipod with more than about 4GB of memory seems to overwhelm the Mini's system and it cannot read that many titles. I use a 4GB iPod Nano, that seems to work well most of the time. Using an iphone 4 with 16GB or an ipod tough with 8GB was very hit-or-miss, and it always would come up with a message "accessory not charging" or "accessory not compatible".
Another thing to note is that the ipod is actually listed as a CD player, with 5 different CDs (CD1, CD2, etc), but these are actually the iPod contents displayed by genre, album, artist, song title and any podcasts.
The other really annoying thing is that the bluetooth on those models worked for Phone Only, not music!
Hope that might help.
Rhubarb,
Richard
